As you may already know, I am a Delta guy, tried and true! With that said, I tell it like it is, but the great thing about Delta, is most of the time its only good things I need to say, and this is one of them!
Delta began offering free In-Flight Messaging / Texting October 1, 2017. I really didn’t pay that much attention to it because I already had that through T-Mobile, see here.
This is just another improvement that my airline, Delta has made to the user experience, and I think its awesome!
No one like to be disconnected for hours and hours, or maybe you do, but at least you want the option, right?
How it Works
This free messaging is not ALL texting or messaging, its only for iMessage, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. But its better than nothing, and most of the time, out of those 3, we can contact who we need to!
Make sure to download Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp BEFORE your flight, and have them all set up.
Sending Emojis are ok, but photos, videos or SMS messages are not accepted.
Other Free Options
I wrote a post a few weeks ago about T-Mobile customers being able to text and they also get free Wi-Fi (time depending on plan from 1 hour to entire flight). But this latest addition by Delta is a win-win for those that do not have T-Mobile, for whatever reason!
Wrap-Up
Delta has made many improvements over the last year or so, coming at a time that we the consumer really need it! The US Airline industry got to the point where they made us feel like they was doing us a favor by flying us, and I am glad when I see things like this! Delta by far is the best option for me, when it comes to US based carriers! I don’t agree with everything they do, but I feel like they really do value the customer and little things like this just prove my point!
