SPG is trying to get everyone to use mobile check-in, they have really been pushing it lately! Until June 15, 2018 SPG is offering an incentive to do so. 72 to 24 hours prior to check-in you should see a button on your app that says mobile check-in. Keep in mind, this is NOT the same as mobile key that Aloft, W, and Element has. As a matter of fact those 3, and Design hotels are NOT participating in this promotion.
No registration is needed, it is automatic, and points should post within a few weeks.
The Details
Between now, and June 15, 2018, each stay you use mobile check-in, you will gain a free , extra 250 starpoints.
This promo excludes, Aloft, W, Element and Design Hotels.
This is for each STAY, not NIGHT, so if you have a 3 night stay at one hotel you only check-in once, hence one bonus.
As far as I can tell there is no limit on number of points that can be earned through this promotion.
This promotion can be combined with other promotions, like the 250 SPG points per NIGHT promotion called “SPG More nights, more Starpoints Promotion.
Wrap Up
This doesnt sound like much, but it can really add up, and if you combine it with other promotions, you can really get the points flowing.
Mobile check-in does very little for you, but I am assuming they are trying to get everyone used to it, and will eventually have mobile keys, and really be able to cut down on Front Desk checkin people in / out.
You will still have to go to the desk, so you can still get your upgrade etc, so do it, and save those starpoints!
