Let me start off by saying I was very excited to stay at this property as it was listed as #2 hotel in all of Bangkok on TripAdvisor, when I stayed. I stayed last year, now I see that it is rated #1 on TripAdvisor. I am always excited to stay in “Top” hotels in different places, this was no exception.
The Marriott Surawongse is a new hotel, at time of my stay, it was less than 5 month old, give or take. The hotel is as fabulous as its reviews, as well as the staff, but as a seasoned traveler and former hotelier , it was apparent to me the staff was still learning, understandably. With that said, I am confident that the great management that I had the pleasure of meeting will keep going in the right direction!
The Hotel is very modern , and you feel the “newness” everywhere! It was much nicer and beautiful then the “other hotel” I stayed in Bangkok.
Check-In
I arrived very late because of several late Delta flights, so the check-in process was very fast and smooth, I was the only guest in the lobby at the time. The staff seemed very well trained and very willing to be of service!
The Room
The room , or suite, was very very nice, I was very pleased, but I might make an observation that it lacked (just slightly) the personality one would expect. The suite just seemed TOO FRESH if that makes sense. I think this will work its way out over time as adjustments to decor and such are made.
I was upgraded to a corner suite on a high floor!
There was a dining room, a tiny kitchenette area, a living area, a powder room, bedroom ,and bathroom! I liked that there was a full size table in the dining area, thats always very nice!
Overall I really liked my room, and besides it being a TAD cold(ish), I really feel like a lot of craftsmanship went into the constructions and design.
The Club Lounge
I have to say, that this club lounge was one of my top 5 hotel club lounges in the world! It was amazingly beautiful and the staff , VERY attentive!
The food was plentiful and they accommodated my Vegan diet very well, which I much appreciated!
The decoration , and design was amazing and the view was stunning!
They even had a boardroom that you could use for free (time limited). Most club lounges do, but this was was truly amazing!
The Hotel
I was only at the hotel a few days and I wasn’t feeling the best so I didn’t explore as much as I would have liked, but I can say without a doubt that every aspect of the hotel was beautiful, new, and well kept!
Wrap Up
I would very much love to return to this great hotel, now ( at time of writing) is apt a year old, and see how the character has grown into it. I plan to, and promise I will do a much better, and much more prompt review this time!
Bangkok was not my favorite city, but everyone says I was wrong and need to revisit, I will and I will stay at Marriott The Surawongse Hotel, for you
